What are natural disasters
Natural disasters are understood to be those violent or sudden changes in the dynamics of the environment, the repercussions of which can cause material loss and loss of life, and which are the product of environmental events in which the hand of human beings is not present, such as disasters. earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, among others.

 

What are the causes of natural disasters?



Loss and damage to structures due to the force of winds, floods, storm surge, and landslides and mudslides.

• Contamination of food and water supplies

• Loss of human life due to different causes

• Interruption in communications

• Affects animals, crops and food production for human consumption.

• Increase in morbidity due to diarrheal diseases, other vector-borne diseases, and parasitic diseases.
 

Floods due to intense rains and sea penetration.

Consequences:
• Structures damaged by flowing water, flooding, landslides and the impact of floating debris. Landslides due to saturated soil.

• Loss of human life, possible outbreaks of malaria, diarrhea, viral infections and leptospirosis, among other causes.

• Possible contamination of wells and groundwater.

• Crops and food supplies tend to be lost.

• Possible loss of animals and the appearance of zoonotic diseases.

Tsunamis:

Consequences:

• The force of water can destroy everything in its path,

• Deaths occur due to drowning and injuries caused by blows

• Contamination of drinking water

• The land is often damaged due to the incursion of salt water

Drought:

The causes of droughts are given by the joint effect of the phenomenon, the climate, the soil and the vegetation.

• The phenomenon of EL NIÑO (ENSO)

• Human-induced changes in the surface of the land and soil

• Higher sea surface temperatures
 

• Increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases
